ACDA NEWSLETTER: JUNE 2019 EDITION.
Kia ora Whanau. First, the ACDA team would like to acknowledge and thank you all for the hard work that you have been putting into your communities. Much of the ground work done by many goes largely unnoticed; but as we know, this is a vital component in achieving a voice for your community.
This year began with the unimaginable tragedy that effected over 50 precious lives, needlessly being taken away in Christchurch on the 15th of March 2019. These terrible events affected countless others and our nation, as a whole, was in a state of shock.
However, this tragedy was soon to be turned into triumph with our multi-cultured nation in Aotearoa, New Zealand, showing the world how we react to terrorism. We were willing to stand beside our fellow Muslim Brothers and Sisters, and their communities in solidarity; displaying that humanity and love is still a strong core value within New Zealand.
Ka pai Aotearoa. Very proud to witness people from all creeds and differences coming together.
As we move into the halfway point of 2019, we are also proud to announce and invite you all to the upcoming 2020 Australasia Pacific Regional Community Development Conference. In association with North Tec; International Association for Community Development and Aotearoa Community Development Association, this conference is set to take place between the 20th - 22nd, April, 2020. Situated in beautiful Whangārei, Northland; we look forward to the two full days of listening and learning, participation and sharing of ideas during this conference. Get in early and mark the date down on your calendar. We'll see you there.
See the poster below to find out more details.
And last but not least, speaking about conferences. We have our very own John Stansfield attending the 2019 World Community Development Conference in Dundee, Scotland during June the 24th and 26th.
If you are also attending this conference and spot him, make sure to stop him to say kia ora, connect and share a few moments. John is looking forward to hearing a few stories and I'm sure he'll have a few of his own to share.
Once again, the ACDA team would like to thank you all for the hard work you have all put in this year thus far in working towards your goals, as well as being a part of ours. Very much appreciated whanau.
